Atelier 971 is an independent eyewear brand founded in Ibiza in 2025 by Pepo Lanzoni.
Ibiza was woven into Pepo’s history long before his birth—the place where his parents first met in 1974. He first discovered the island in 1991 while living in Barcelona and training for a career in professional tennis, but its magnetic pull redirected his path. Following decades immersed in the electronic music scene—as a DJ, promoter, and record store owner—and years exploring photography and design, he turned his focus to eyewear.
Atelier 971 is the culmination of that path: an homage to the Mediterranean way of life—a philosophy where simplicity and style prevail over flashiness and opulence, and mindfulness over productivity. It’s a lifestyle that strips away the unnecessary, leaving only what is essential. Our designs translate this quiet serenity into form: clean lines, soft curves, and muted tones. True sophistication lives in subtlety—the art of living well, where simplicity becomes the purest form of elegance.
The name "971" is the phone code of the Balearic Islands, an insider detail that roots us to our home. Our design elements further celebrate this connection, most notably the brand’s signature rivets—one larger than the other—symbolizing our cherished sister islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
Driven by a deep respect for heritage and world-class craftsmanship, Pepo chose Sabae, Japan, as the sole home for Atelier 971's manufacturing. Every frame is handcrafted by artisans who uphold the world’s highest standards of eyewear production. This obsession with detail—from hand-polished finishes to perfect technical alignments—is a direct result of choosing Japanese mastery over mass production.
